Premier Andrews used his morning press conference today to attack former Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) Commissioner the Hon Robert Redlich AM KC, for comments he made in a letter to the Parliament published today in the Herald Sun.
In his 15 December 2022 letter to the President of the Legislative Council and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Mr Redlich’s opening comment was, “I am writing to you as the newly elected Parliament to bring to Parliament’s attention, IBAC’s concerns about the composition of the Parliamentary Integrity and Oversight Committee (IOC)”.
Despite this unambiguous request that the letter be brought to the attention of all Parliamentarians, both the Labor President and the Labor Speaker chose to keep the letter secret – until a copy found its way to the Herald Sun today.
The full Redlich letter is available on the Herald Sun website.
Should the Premier be attacking the former IBAC commissioner for raising IBAC’s concerns about the composition of Parliamentary committees?
