Have your say on Daniel Andrews’ nasty new schools tax

Daniel Andrews and Labor have announced they will breach their election promise that they will achieve their commitments “with no new or increased taxes”, by introducing a new tax on independent schools.

This will breach longstanding practice going back to 1941 that has exempted charitable schools from payroll tax.

The new tax will collect $422 million over four years and apply initially to at least 115 Victorian schools.

1. Do you support taxing not-for-profit education?
2. Should parents pay higher school fees at non-government schools to cover Labor’s payroll tax on education?
3. Should non-government not-for-profit schools cut programs and teaching services to pay for Labor’s tax on charitable schools?
4. Should Daniel Andrews have honoured the longstanding arrangements to shield charitable schools/education from taxation?
5. Should parents at non-government/charitable schools be punished with higher fees to pay for Daniel Andrews’ massive state debt?
